TEWO solid wood elements eliminate need for plastic

- Termowood’s TEWO building element combines solid wood and insulation in a prefinished component intended to replace the plastic vapour barrier inside walls. The article says the tested/certified product is patented in seven European countries, is the first plastic-free alternative approved in Norway, and meets passive-house energy-efficiency requirements. It is designed for faster installation and can be combined with floors, roofs, interior walls, steel or concrete.
- Elements come with rock-wool or wood-fibre insulation. The company says a TEWO element replaces four to six conventional frame components, uses measured project quantities to reduce waste, and lowers transport needs. The product has an Environmental Product Declaration; the article also notes timber is renewable, stores biogenic carbon and can be recycled.
- Termowood opened an automated production facility in 2019. The article gives production capacity as materials for one standard house per eight-hour shift and says output was initially intended for Norway, with international partnerships as production increased. These are article-era operational details, not confirmation of current capacity.
