- TOMRA Collection Solutions Digital has supplied IoT products for reverse vending machines since the mid-1990s. Operator tools include error alerts, fraud prevention, and reports on recycling activity, container-bin handling, cleaning and payouts. The myTOMRA consumer app locates available machines, supports personal recycling sessions, and provides deposit refunds electronically or by digital voucher.
- The company says real-time alerts speed error response, reports help operators plan staffing around recycling patterns, and fraud controls prevent double payment. For consumers, the app can show machine status to avoid trips to closed machines and eliminate printed vouchers.
- Article-era company figures: more than 82,000 RVM installations in over 60 markets; more than 60,000 connected to its IoT platform; about 40 billion beverage containers captured per year. It says deposit-return systems can return almost 100% of beverage containers. Figures and policy goals cited in the 2022 article may have changed since publication.
