- Ulstein designs service operation vessels (SOVs) for offshore-wind farms. Purpose-built walk-to-work gangways let crews transfer from shore to ship and ship to turbines; the vessels also function as floating accommodation for multiweek trips. The article describes the designs as prioritising comfort and fuel efficiency.
- Windea Jules Verne, delivered by Ulstein Verft in 2020, is described with patented X-BOW and X-STERN hull lines intended to improve operability/comfort and reduce resistance in head seas and fuel use. Other delivered walk-to-work vessels listed are Acta Centaurus, Windea Leibniz, Windea La Cour, Seaway Moxie and Acta Auriga.
- Ulstein says it designs vessels for offshore-wind installation/decommissioning, cable and pipe laying, and service/maintenance. It has built vessels at its own yard and overseen construction at other yards, and has introduced hydrogen-hybrid designs for an offshore construction-support vessel and a turbine-installation vessel. The page cites over 9 GW of offshore wind installed in 2025 and more than 300 GW in the pipeline for the next decade, attributing this to a 2026 GWEC report.

Additional captured detail 1
Ulstein supplies service operation vessels for offshore wind. These ships let technicians work at turbines far offshore and stay at sea for weeks. The ships use walk-to-work gangways and provide onboard accommodation.
