Source modified 21 Sep 2026·2 min read

From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 5 August 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Marked available; listed under Maritime / Operations, management and digital solutions and Services and support, plus Energy.
  • Zinus’s Autonomous Telescopic charger is an electric handling unit for automatically connecting AC or DC shore power to a vessel. The system detects an approaching vessel and the page says connection can be completed within 20 seconds after docking.
  • A height-adjustable tower and 90-degree rotating telescopic arm, with flexible cables, are designed to accommodate different vessel sizes and changes in wind, waves and tides. It can handle up to 2 m of vessel drift. A semi-automatic version is also offered and systems can be customised.
  • The tower footprint is 0.8 m by 0.8 m and materials are described as weather- and seawater-resistant. Zinus recommends inspection after about 10,000 charge cycles and schedules overhaul at 50,000 cycles. The unit is described as all-electric and oil-free; this refers to the charging unit, not all port or vessel emissions.
  • The page says installations existed at ferry docks in Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway. Zinus is described as owned by DSD, LOS Gruppen and Eviny Ventures. The page frames expanding port charging as necessary for maritime electrification and references an IMO target; the policy figure is historical context.
  • Linked to SDGs 9 and 11.
