  • Published 17 October 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Marked available; listed under Maritime and Energy.
  • Shore Power Cruiser is a semi-automatic, portable high-voltage cable deployment system for connecting docked cruise ships to shore electricity. An operator uses a remote-controlled mini picker and telescopic arm to roll out, position and lift cables to the ship’s connector; plugging the cable into the ship remains manual. The unit reels cables back in before departure.
  • Zinus estimates about 30 minutes to connect a 60 m cable after docking. An optional system can detect an incoming vessel and begin cable deployment before it docks, potentially reducing connection time to 15 minutes. These are company estimates and depend on port layout, vessel and setup.
  • The portable system is presented as allowing shore-power service at different berths without fixed connector points. Zinus describes the unit as all-electric and oil-free; emissions reduction at berth depends on the electricity source and vessel actually shutting down onboard engines.
  • Zinus is described as owned by DSD, LOS Gruppen and Eviny Ventures. The page’s cruise passenger growth statistic (6.6% annual growth over 1990–2020) is historical context.
  • Linked to SDGs 3, 11 and 12.
