Zinus shore power connectors for ferries and service vessels
- Published 5 August 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Marked available; listed under Maritime / Services and support and Operations, management and digital solutions, plus Energy.
- Zinus offers shore-power connections for ferries, offshore-service vessels and aquaculture-service vessels. Shore Power Telescopic uses a height-adjustable tower and arm that rotates 180 degrees to serve different vessel types and accommodate tides and waves; it delivers high- or low-voltage power. Shore Power Compact is a smaller fixed or portable unit for high- and low-voltage connections.
- The systems are described as fitting with minor changes to existing quays and having small footprints; the telescopic tower requires a 1 m by 1.2 m base. They use weather- and seawater-resistant construction. Heating can be added for Arctic installations, and built-in harbour lighting is among the optional features.
- Both lines are all-electric, oil-free, and can include semi-automatic systems that detect incoming vessels and prepare before docking. Emissions benefits depend on the vessel connecting and shutting down its engines and on the shore electricity mix.
- Zinus is described as owned by DSD, LOS Gruppen and Eviny Ventures. The page argues that emission targets and concern about port air pollution may increase demand, but provides no market-size estimate.
- Linked to SDGs 3, 9 and 11.
